Best way to take Landscapes?

Ok need help.

When I take a landscape pic to me it looks just well................. boring and then I see other peoples pics [re phil/bobmieke] and well usually I go
why cant I do that.


So help me guys give me three top tips for landscapes.

I have one for the fuji but not the nikon.

Try to see what it is you like about landscape shots you like then try to emulate that.

1st tip tho is to use a wide angle lens

outdoor photography is also the best for landscapes

i read this mag all the time

i dont know how to help coz im still learning and i have buggered mine up on the weekend as they are all crocked lol

i like to use wide angle and look for interesting forground in the image also look out fluffy or stormy cloudy skies, they add the drama in the picture

Not sure I'm really qualified to offer any advice but for me the single most important thing is the light. Early in the day or late in the day when the sun is low gives you a real glow and helps bring out all the details. If it's an area your familiar with you'll get to know what time of day is best for a particular view. If you're lucky enough to have somewhere close by you can easily keep improving on a shot.

Composition is also key. Again I'm no expert but I like to try and have something in the foreground like a rock, a puddle or some grass sticking up. Something that really helps give depth to a picture is having something (wall, hedge, field boundary, line of trees etc) leading 'into' the picture.

A dramatic sky is always a gift and some water will always add a bit of drama.

Wide (ish) angle lens helps to give a bit of impact.

Not really done HDR yet so I nearly always expose more for the sky than the land - it's easier to lighten up the land than bring detail back to a burned out sky.
