Photoshop CS3 & Lightroom - best place to buy?

Having had a go at one or two editing exercises and read the excellent tips on this forum I have decided that perhaps I should bite the built and move from Elements to PS CS3 (think that is what I need)

Anyway having decided that is what I need and want I started to look at where would be best to buy!!! Prices are very high and I wondered if anyone has a favourite supplier who does a good deal, I may also be in the market for Lightroom as if I stop using Elements I will loose the cataloguing facility. Thanks.

Unfortunately I don't - it seems that Amazon do offer some at a more achievable price, perhaps if I put off getting the new camera for a while I could manage the software.

Re: Photoshop CS3 & Lightroom - best place to buy?

I would seriously consider www.gimp.org and spend the money on some quality lens instead.

Re: Photoshop CS3 & Lightroom - best place to buy?

Thanks Azz but you forget, I'm a woman and I want both. If I can't have PS I will stick with Elements because that is what I am used to using and it works well with other Adobe software.

I am though determined to have the software, the camera and the 2 lens I want, just a mater of adjusting out goings with the in comings.

Have your tied enrolling in one of the 'cheap' open university photography courses? I'm not 100% sure but I think doing so gets you a NUS card, which gets you the discount

You don't have to be a student as such at Uni or college. If you have children or know someone who has a child at normal primary or secondary shool, they qualify as students also.

Re: Photoshop CS3 & Lightroom - best place to buy?

Unless you plan to get into really heavy editing and turning pro then there is no real need for the move from elements to full CS3.

All CS3 will have is a lot more stuff that you will never use, and cost you 10 times as much. All that it offers is designed for the pro, for example colour profiles and the ability to convert stuff for the professional print houses.

The things that people think are ''missing'' from elements that they ''need'' are mostly there or available as an add on, for example layer masks are in elements they just need a slight work around or a plug in to get, same with curves its all there just a little hidden.
