Balvaird Castle

One of the tower houses by us - Balvaird Castle.

Popped up there this afternoon and despite the sun coming out is was really windy.

Here's the first one I've uploaded - If looks a bit 'odd' it's because I've straightened the perspective so the walls are vertical.

As ever - crit welcomed.

Re: Balvaird Castle

It's a nice image Phil, Shame about the white sky though

Nice mono conversion, has plenty of 'feel' to the image.

I rekon this is a really good image to make a 'spooky' scene out of, you know, darken it down, give it a blue-midnight-colour and maybe even stick a big moon behind it

Good shot,
Alan.

Re: Balvaird Castle

I like it too, love the crisp sharp corners and the leaning tree just adds to the slight menacing feel of the shot.

Good shot,
Alan.
Thanks Alan. The 'white' is actually big fluffy white clouds. The sky was a nice blue. I took loads of pictures so I'll probably have some with dark and some with white.

Thanks - I wasn't sure if there was too much contrast but I was trying to avoid the wishy grey look.

Re: Balvaird Castle

Lovely shot Phil, I like the light and the shadows on the castle.
Also like the way the tree is framing the shot.

Re: Balvaird Castle

I really like this and have to disagree with wildwalker the shades of the sky makes change from a good shot to an excellent shot.
