Wedding pics turnaround time.

How long would you guys expect to wait to see your wedding pic proofs?

A friend of mines daughter got married in Bristol last year [november] and received her proofs in April.

Surely this is unexceptable or is it normal?

I give my clients there proofs within 2-3 weeks and then when they have picked their album pics usually another two weeks.

So usually within four to five weeks they have their album.

I understand that I only do weddings in and out and not every Saturday but 6 months wait is a bit much.

Or am I wrong is this normal practise?

Re: Wedding pics turnaround time.

All to do with cost i guess.

Some places i know can do em in one day for a premium.

Your's sounds about right to me.

I certainly wouldn't wait as long as your friend.

Re: Wedding pics turnaround time.

Think if the proofs are ready a week of so after they return from honeymoon then that is fine, they are, or should be, still on a high and will be able to choose the shots that capture their memories best. Six months is far to long.

Re: Wedding pics turnaround time.

my clients are advised that it will take 2 to 3 weeks for wedding shoots, and up to 2 weeks for a normal shoot (usually have them done in a couple of days).

Once they have chosen their photos they want to print, it can take from 3 to 7 working days for the prints to get rom the printer back to me and then to the client...

so all in all... NOT 6 MONTHS!!!! i'd be embarrassed!

Re: Wedding pics turnaround time.

I agree but I have asked around a few people and it happens more than you think.

If I do a wedding on Saturday I can have them ready for printing by Monday with a couple late nights maybe but always say longer as it gives me breathing space in case of illnes ect [I have a life too lol]

Thanks for the input guys

Re: Wedding pics turnaround time.

Just booked a photographer for my wedding next year .... 1 to 2 weeks for whole set of pics on disc as I want to put together my own album and am also having a trash the dress day so I can have snaps with the dogs. I would not want to have to wait more than a couple of weeks for the proofs .... waiting from nov to april is really taking the mickey!!

Jols

If it takes that long (5 months)to get the wedding photos its just in time before the divorce.

Re: Wedding pics turnaround time.

Wow! 6 months is ridiculous hope they were the best photographs in the world!!!
I would of thought anything more than a month was not on TBH. I suppose it depends how busy they are, as really good Wedding photographer must be extremely busy in the summer. But, a month should be enough time.
