Linnet (100% crop)

Taken with Canon 400d and 400mm L f5.6 lens. ISO 200, 1/1000 sec @f5.6.

I know you have your new camera but what do you mean by 100% crop ?

Is this uncropped at 400mm ?

Thanks Azz, yes it really shows off the quality of the 400mm f5.6 especially as the image is a 100% crop, and not forgetting the 400d combination as well.

I cant wait to try out the 40d with 400mm f5.6 on some birds

Phil - by 100% crop he means that that part of the image is from the image at 100%, so hasn't been reduced in size. It's a great way to see the quality of a camera, as it's basically a small part of the full sized image.

Thanks Phil. I mean the image has not been resized at all, it has been zoomed in to full view/detail (100%) and then just cropped to show the bird at the actual size the picture was taken.

When you select "view" in photoshop for example, you can select fit on screen, or actual pixels, well the image of the linnet is the actual pixels you would see when viewed at 100%.

I hope this helps, if not maybe someone else can explain it better
