Tortoiseshells on our Buddleia (Butterfly Bush)
Well I think they are tortoiseshell butterflys. The bush must have had about 50 of them 'feeding' on it this afternoon. It's funny how there were none a week ago and now it's covered. From memory the tortoiseshells hang around for a few weeks and then it's covered in a different type, Red Admirals I think.
Hope you like them. I'm quite pleased with them considering it was pretty breezy.

Their funny little tongues make me smile I think my fave is no2 but they are all wonderful.

Beautiful shots Phil. I especially like 1 with the wings spread and 2 with the proboscis (tongue thing ) out and so clear.
