Restenneth priory

Hi Here is Restenneth Priory Although the oldest part of the priory is the lower section of the tower built in the 1100s there has been a place of worship on this site since 790, the priory is situated about 1.5 miles outside Forfar on the Montrose Road. This was taken about 3pm on friday, it would look much better at sunset, but I was with a friend that day and couldn't wait that long.

Re: Restenneth priory

Hi Clairelou and for anybody else who doesn't know where Forfar is, Forfar is situated 15 miles north of Dundee and not a lot of people know this but almost became the capital of Scotland in fact it was the capital of Scotland for about 20 years this is because the king of scotland of the time liked forfar so much he acually moved his whole court to forfar and if it hadn't been for small matter of a war with england, forfar could well have remained capital of scotland
