Knowing your location I would think perhaps granite, I have loads of photos of rock walls from Norway and though I was perhaps the only one suffering from crack stone mania. Perhaps me need a “nose on stones” group

Interesting....Charcol was a good guess!
Its actually a burnt tree stump, never really looked at it, but I was in the garden yesterday looking for inspiration for this months lesson and saw the shapes and colours. I also managed to disturb an ants nest
