C&C Takara - dalmatian (compact - finepix A405)

Just had a mini sesh and tried to remember what people had told me on other threads...

1. I am aware of the chewed up basket in the background... I couldn't move it because it would've scared her but if I get some editing software I'll have a bash at it

2.

3.

Lottie

I actually like the chewed up basket in the background, it tells how naughty dogs can be against the "innocent" look on the dog.
It for me adds to the picture.

Re: C&C Takara - dalmatian (compact - finepix A405)

You have learned very well, basket is no problem at all, in fact, adds something to the shot. You do still seem to have a problem with the lighting but those of us who are just starting to come to terms of not just taking a photo but to take a good photo do not have lighting in our kits, as yet.

May be you could arrange to take her in natural daylight coming through a window, or put her bed outside and may be she will join it so you have better light to work with.

If you have PS or similar programme on your PC or laptop you may be able to increase the contrast a little which may give your images a little more sparkle which because of the light conditions your images lack.

Please accept my comments as my personal thoughts of which you are not obliged to take note, the main thing is that you like what you have done, my opinions are not important.

Re: C&C Takara - dalmatian (compact - finepix A405)

Thanks guys! Bazza I hadn't thought about that! Thanks.

Snapper thank you very much - I asked for opinions and am happy to take tips on board.
I'm currently learning what lighting looks like through a camera because the lighting was really ambient at the time as it was nighttime and the lamp in the corner was on but it didn't come out like it at all.

The problem I have when I take photos of the dallies in natural light is they seem to shine due to being white- but I'll keep trying!

I'll also see if I can have a play with the contrast - I have a new laptop so need to get PS put on it.

Thank you everyone for your comments Click I think 2 is my favourite as well!

Two is my favorite, though one is good too with the basket. I like how you've got right down at her level, brings something special to the pictures, I think the eyes look a little fuzzy though, could be the lighting, but with someadjustments, they could really stand out! I really like her expression in number two

Re: C&C Takara - dalmatian (compact - finepix A405)

Hi Lottie, think one of the problems with poor light if you use automatic focus is that the camera has trouble sorting out where to focus and sometimes it is not where you intended. If you look carefully at the first photo you will see that the basket is in sharp focus but the side of the dog nearest to the camera in not as sharp as it may be.

Can't help with the strong outside light as I have trouble with white or black dogs myself, you need one of our pro. people for that I think. You could try either early in the morning or late in the evening or taking the dog in the shade.

I offer opinion because you ask and to be honest having to think about you images makes me think more about my own. Good luck with your efforts and I look forward to seeing your next batch.
