Re: Some flowers

lovely shots Zounds!
i really like the last one

as for the distracting leaves like you said ,
Do you have A mode (aperture) on your camera ?
smaller the aperture number the more blur in the background and flowers still in focus (wide aperture)

when your aperture number gets bigger, the depth of field also gets bigger & more of the background is in focus (smallest aperture)

dont forget the widest your aperture, the more light you let in your camera

hope you understand this lol im crap at explaining !

Re: Some flowers

Thanks CL, I do understand what you mean (i think ) but I can't do that with this camera which is a shame, I sort of have to make the best of a bad situation so to speak lol - it's only a little compact effort, so hopefully I can put these things into practice when I can finally afford a decent camera

Re: Some flowers

Hope you don't mind, my c&c feel free to ignore me!!

1:
I find the oof flowers on the right a distraction I think crop these off and this is a great shot really nice combination of the red and green.

2:
Looks a little underexposed to me, checked the histogram in PS and I think it needs the whites boosting. I had a play and gave it a really harsh crop and a sat boost and thinks its a shot with really good potential.

3:
I like this one a lot, I'd just take a little off the right to shift the centre of the flower off the centre.

4:
Another good un, and again I'd take a little off the right to take it off centre.

Hope I haven't offended you, if I have let me know and I will delete my post.

Re: Some flowers

absolutely not offended at all! This is why i asked for C&C and why I use a forum like this, I'm so glad there seem to be more people happy to critique our photos than when I first started *thumbs up to Azz for that one*

I don't think anyone should be offended by constructive criticism! If you'd said *no they're rubbish* I'd probably be a bit sad but as it happens, looking at them again, I agree with every point you made! See - sometimes we all need a little shove to show us something we may have missed!

thanks very much!
