Today's shots...

I took a bunch of shots today. These are the *what I consider* best ones.

I definitely would like feedback and criticism.

Re: Today's shots...

In picture no 2 I would just crop out the right hand side showing the edge of the house.

Taking pictures of red flowers as in no 5 is about the hardest test a camera can be put to, for some reason red and cameras don't go together especially when they fill the picture. You did well with it and just a suggestion, how about another picture of the same flower but with more surrounding it as a comparison. You might find it has a little more impact, worth a try. But what do I know you have asked for our thoughts.

Re: Today's shots...

Very nice Nick, lovely flower shots

Great colours and sharpness too, maybe make the flowers slightly off centre, so they are not smack bang in the middle, does that make sense like the fourth one, it is a really good pic.

What is the lizard thingy? It looks very cute

Re: Today's shots...

ooh i really like the lizard !! i suppose you get them in the garden all the time in america then ! lol
And i also like the third pic best coz you have blurred background (DOF) but need to step back a teeny teeny bit so you you wont chop the petals at the top and bottom of the frame

Re: Today's shots...

Some great shots Nick!

My first tip would be is to think about the framing of the photos a little more - what I do is get behind the viewfinder and move around until what I see is the best frame for that photo. Mostly this is for the angle and what I want in the frame.. which leads me on to tip two.

When something is the main focus of your photo try not to crop bits off it, and if possible give it enough breathing space (so the crop isn't too tight).

If you want to shoot a part of some (like a macro) then get right in there and apply the same tip of moving around, high and low, left and right, back and fourth to find the 'sweet spot' for that particular picture.

Hope that helps!

Yeah I see what you are saying about trying the flower in other areas of the shot.

That is a lizard, and they are very common here in the U.S.

Thanks for those tips.

Overall, I need to spend more time actually taking each picture.
These are all little things that you guys suggested, but together, they make a big difference.

Thanks for all the help, guys!
