Subject of the Week 33 - Rule of Thirds - Is now open

Hi

Subject of the Week 33 - Rule of Thirds - Is now open.

A few hours early but I'm about to start messing about with all my computer cables so I may just vanish. Again.

when the main object in your pic

eg; bird, person, plane, flower

only takes up a third of your shot.

if you google it i am sure there will be examples

Rule of thirds as I understand it, so probably really wrong Is three imaginary lines going vertical and three going horizontally in the frame evenly spaced out , and if you put the main focus /object on the meeting point of one of those lines you get a pleasing composition. I think

No you are right.

If you imagine 2 lines drawn vertical through the frame dividing it into 3 sections and two horizontal lines also dividing the frame into 3 sections (think naughts and crosses)

It's not an exact thing - just a shot composed on these lines or even just key objects placed where the lines cross.

That last one of mine - the horizon is 1/3 of the way down and the tree is approx 1/3 in from the right.
