Moon's Lens Reverse experiment :)

Okay I gave it a go, and it is amazing

I used things that were on my work bench so..

A red 3mm crystal bead, it looks flawless, until you look at it like this

Before

After

Before

After

A Brass filigree bead actual size 6 mm

Cool, I am going to have to do it again

Re: Moon's Lens Reverse experiment :)

Nice one.

See what I mean about having to find really tiny things.

Also the depth of field is so shallow - not sure about you but I found myself swaying back and forth like some screwball.

I think with a tripod and a reverse ring it would be a case of setting it up and marking the area where the object be placed then move the object very gently into focus.

Re: Moon's Lens Reverse experiment :)

You must try it Jols

Yeah, that was me Phil, swaying around I would suddenly get it in focus and my hand would move and I would have to start again, you really do have such a small margin to get in focus. I would have a go again, are these reversing rings very expensive, because it must be easier if you haven't got to literally hold the lens in place. Going to do some silver things tomorrow, Brass works really well

Re: Moon's Lens Reverse experiment :)

I'm going to get on, has to be easier than trying to hold the lens against the body and then them both moving apart

It is cool though, what lens did you use, I suppose that makes a difference too. I used my 14-42 mm
