The old iron railway bridges

These old railway bridges have straddled the River Ouse since 1878 until 3rd August 2007-when they were removed to make way for the dreaded guided bus route. They hadnt been maintained since the railway closed in 1970,but despite them not being pieces of art-they were still history.Sadly, now been cut up for scrap.

During lift.

and after removal.

Re: The old iron railway bridges

Cheers all.It was a shame that they had to go cause they're gonna be replaced with a characterless precast concrete monstrosity.
