Kestrel (inflight), Pied Wagtail & Bluetit.

I could not find any birds today, then 3 appear one after the other
I was about to go home when I noticed this Kestral hovering near me, but as I approached it just got further away. I hid behind a hedge then it suddenly flew over me, I wasted no time and pointed, locked on, focus and fired.
As I was viewing the Kestral images a little tit came by and started singing to me,as if to say "you can take my pic too lol, which I did but he was a little too far away. The Pied Wagtail is fearless, he got so close to me that my 400mm would not focus and I had to switch to close focusing distance 3.8m to photograph him.

1.Kestrel 100% crop

2.Pied Wagtail. Look at his lovely soft feathers blowing in the wind

3.Pied Wagtail. Failed to get perfect focus on his eye.

4.Bluetit. I have cloned out some twigs

5.Bluetit

Re: Kestrel (inflight), Pied Wagtail & Bluetit.

I said the other day that I wasn't going to comment on your Astrphotography shots anymore, basically because I couldn't do it and I was jealous.

Same rule pretty much applies here too

WOW DJ !!!

I've just noticed that your Kestrel is actually carrying something. It looks like a small mouse or a vole.

You lucky son of a gun!

Great capture!

Your right, MD, I just knew that part did not belong to the bird LOL, but I could not work out what it was
that is how I got the shot in the first place, after it was hovering for a while it dived down to catch its prey and then I hid behind a hedge then it flew over near where I was, of course if it had seen me it would have gone the opposite direction.
