Awesome detail.. I can see the scratches on his beak!
(Btw, you are a great photographer too! Hope me going on about your camera all the time doesn't negate that fact - as they say, it's what's behind the camera that really matters!)

How much editing have you actually done Ste? I like the photo a lot, but am wondering how much is photography and how much is editing, i.e background etc?

Thanks for the comments everyone, the bird is as shot I just cloned out some lighter area's in the background which was mainly black to start with.

I don't do much post processing normally Dawn, what I get is what I get. Only now again do I do a little cloning out of stuff, but not had anything to do it with a for a while since I got a mac. So only playing with Aperture to see what it can do when the free trial runs out will be back to doing nowt!
