And now for something completely different

I thought i would go off the bird theme for today and upload something a little different for me.

When on vacation at the beginning of July, we popped over to Chichester and the Cathedral. Mainly to have a ganders at the cathedral, did not know anything of the Chichester Peregrines so seeing them for the 1st time was a nice change (Sadly i did not get any photos of the one that was there the day we went) although in the cloisters of the Cathedral, an exhibition was being held. An exhibition by the famous sculpture Philip Jackson.
If you have not heard of him, he is famous for doing the head sculpture of Sir Alf Ramsay at Wembley. The Trinity Sculpture `Best, Law and Charlton` at Old Trafford. The Bobby Moore sculpture which he did for the opening of the New Wembley amongst many other sculptures, not all sporty ones. Things like the Gurkha Memorial in London. HM the Queen Golden Jubilee Equestrian sculpture in Windsor Great park and many many more.......

The Exhibition at Chichester was entitled Paradise. I found it something different, in part quite dark, and i think that is what appealed.

Anyway, to the exhibits - This is image heavy so apologies -

1 - Conclave
2 - Exultate Jubilate
3 - Gabrielli`s Apprentice
4 - Gale force Nun II
5 - Guided Missal
6 - His Eminence
7 - Last Ball of summer
8 - Moonstruck
9 - Mr Bennetts Daughter
10 - Pope Joan
11 - Queen of the night
12 - Reading Chaucer
13 - Saraband
14 - The Don
15 - The Grandees
16 - The Magistrate
17 - The Sentinels
18 - The Swordmaster

There are more in this exhibition but i do not think all were being shown.

Enjoy

Great set, fascinating and some good compositions. Please don't apologise for the length of superb sets like that one.

Re: And now for something completely different

Thanks Richard As you proabbaly realized from a few of the images though it was hard to get a sculpture in the shot on its own. The cloisters is not that big at the cathedral, so i thought i did well, considering there were quite a few people around too

Re: And now for something completely different

I was half expecting Monty Python given the title

Nice set - the sculptures are fantastic. Kind of 'dark' but that's just my kind of thing.

I've seen the one at Old Trafford many times.

Re: And now for something completely different

Superb Phil, the reflection is great. I didn't take my camera the one time I went to Old Trafford.

It was 2 shots.

A shot of Sir Matt's statue blended on a layer over the top of the main shot of the Best, Law and Charlton statue. Just my compact camera so pleased with the result.

Re: And now for something completely different

Yes Phil a famous Monty Python intro
And no, why would i mind you adding the statue of 3 legends
Im Manchester Red, Born and Bred

The dark feel to this exhibition is what appealed. I thought to myself that these characters could easily be characters in a childrens film, reminded me a little of a nightmare before xmas. That was kind of dark.

Re: And now for something completely different

I agree. Sort of JRR Tolkien meets Tim Burton. I think they will be right up Moonstone's tree too.

Re: And now for something completely different

Distinctive style, must admit ive never heard of Phillip Jackson, i can feel a google moment coming on. Only went to Old Trafford once back in the 60`s and was lucky to see Best, Law and Charlton in action.
