Ducks Part 1

Taken at WWT Arundel a few weeks ago, a few of the species of duck they have there. 5 to start off with

Image 1 - Bronze Winged Duck
Image 2 - Chiloe Wigeon
Image 3 - Blue Duck
Image 4 - Common Scoter
Image 5 - Long Tailed Ducks

These were all 1st sightings for me, even though Scoters are common in parts of the UK this was my 1st sighting

What a great series of Ducks Mark, I've not seen a scoter before this post either, so a first for me. Thanks for posting.

Lovely shots there All captive there aren't they though? 1,2 and 3 we don't get in the UK or Ireland, they would be *mega* rarities.

Have seen all of the scoters we get here I *think* Perhaps Brian will correct me - I've seen Velvet, Common, Surf and White Winged now!

Thanks Laura.....Yes sadly they are all captives and like most of the species here, unless you spend a lot of time in South America amongst other places you would not get chance to see these birds. I would prefer to see them in the wild and not captive but its not one of those things possible without traveling far and wide. Maybe in future but for now its just nice to see them.
The work the WWT does is second to none, they are helping save wetlands and its wildlife, some of the species in these centres are endangered.
It was the brain child of Sir Peter Scott. The son of explorer Robert Falcon Scott He passed in 1989 but his work lives on
