Raw v Jpeg

On another photographic forum a member stated that once you have edited on Jpeg you can't go back but you can with RAW, was the general idea given. What was overlooked was the Golden Rule of editing and that is

NEVER EVER WORK ON THE ORIGINAL, ONLY WORK ON COPIES, AND SAVE THE ORIGINAL ON A BACKUP. Something that member had overlooked badly

Re: Raw v Jpeg

I think perhaps you've missed the point really Bazza... It's one reason of many to shoot RAW - mainly being that it's so much better for pp work anyway!

Re: Raw v Jpeg

Zounds
the point was in saying you can't go back with Jpeg which was entirely wrong.

Re: Raw v Jpeg

Well, it's not wrong, you can't go back on an edited JPEG, but then, I agree with you, you should be making copies to edit anyway
