hello all I'm new to this forum so be kind!
oh and this is my first DSLR so still finding my way around it! anyway here goes!
these are some shots of Ashley my eldest son. they are all taken within the first 2 weeks of getting my new camera, a Nikon D40, and I love it! I filled a 2gig card within about 3 days lol now I've got a little more selective with the pics I keep! lol Newbee!

Great pictures there - you seem to be doing very well! Good choice of camera too.... I have one as well
Just a quick tip - although the last pic looks great, you'll find that having the sunlight shine directly on the subject gives you a more vibrant/clearer pic

Yeah the lighting is better on that one.. but the composition is better on the first It's hard work getting everything spot on isn't it? But when you do it feels great!
Mel know how you feel, when I switched to RAW I noticed the difference! Luckily my camera is only 6MP tho so file sizes are smaller than yours!
