Solitude

There's something about the single human figure in a grand landscape that strikes at the heart of our humanness. A sense of vulnerabilty, a feeling of loneliness, some concern for our insignificance and a primal urge to photograph it.

Wonderful - and does well evoking the feelings of smallness that you describe.

Re: Solitude

Totally agree Tom.

This shot suites the B&W PP so well, so lovely tones from the light cast across the building.

Re: Solitude

There are times when we seek the solitude. The 'white noise' of human contact can be ditracting to those who have a vested interest in their own thoughts and purpose. They are best left alone.

Re: Solitude

Thanks Ken. This isn't a new shot by any means. The original had 2 overhead lights in it as well but PS got rid of them. I always look at this shot and think I need to do something about the single light left. It would have been great if I could have swung over the balcony like Batman and turned it away from the camera or thrown a warm filter over it. But beggers can't be choosers. Its one of the great games with photography. You have to run with what you have in front of you most of the time. Whatever is presented at that moment is what you have to work with, including your own equipment and skills.

Here's another sort of isolation. At my age I seek this sort of solitude often.
