Tulip Festival

I had such high hopes for today's Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival. I was up at 4:00 a.m. getting ready to be out the door by 5:00 a.m.. I arrived at the perfect time, just before sunup. I walked a half mile in mud, in the dark, to the site I had selected, set up my camera and tripod, and waited for the sun. Nothing but fog appeared, heavy, dense fog. I was crushed! Still, I had driven 38 miles to get some shots and by cracky I was determined. There would be no sunrise "Golden Hour" but I could get close and use the overcast conditions for soft lighting situations. Here is one of the few keepers from 150 frames.

This was one of the three shots I kept from the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival. I got fogged in so I had to full frame shots to get some contrast and punch. This shot didn't turn out bad with the even lighting and interesting background. I dare not pull out any further of the fog would flatten the image. As Jeremiah Johnson once said: "Sometimes you kill the bear, and sometimes he kills you".

Thank you. I guess I should be grateful for the two good shots I did get. At least it wasn't raining. LOL

It's on until the end of the month. I can't afford the gas to make more trips there. There's no telling the same thing might happen again. I gave it one shot, came away with two good photos and will move on to the next event.

Thanks. That first shop is going in my favorites area. It was worth the trip just for one good shot. Now I have a new goal, beat that shot! LOL
