Re: made me laugh..

Superb capture Steve.

What a great bit of irony, those things are so successful that some fish stocks are suffering.

Re: made me laugh..

It reminds me of the Kingfisher images where they are sat on a No fishing sign.
Shame it did not have a fish in its mouth at the time Steve. Nice capture though

Re: made me laugh..

The Chinese use these birds to catch fish for them. They take a pair of birds out into a river/lake with cord tied around their throats, just tight enough so the birds can't swallow their catch. The fisherman fills his basket with the fish they capture and give the birds smaller fish that they can swallow. If they don't get something to eat occasionally they stop diving. Smart birds, smart fisherman. Nice capture here Steve.

Re: made me laugh..

Thanks for all of the replies everyone...

I had almost forgotten about this place and all of the wildlife that it houses, I think I will be making a return trip when it has the evening sun on it and see if I can get the cormorant sitting on the no fishing sign with a fish in it's mouth.

Bob, thanks for the info about them being used by the fishermen, as you said very clever fishermen and very clever birds.

Mossy, you are right about that... they have out fished me on many occasion..
