First go at HDR /tone mapping
I am not keen on hdr/tone mapping but thought as everyone else is having a go I had better see what it's all about and to whether it would be usefull to me or not..so after work this afternoon I headed down to the beach to take some pictures...( each image is made up from 5 bracketed shots ) and tried them out in photomatrix..
some of the shots were with the sun pretty well into my face and some with the sun behind me..
any way what do you think about the hdr/tone mapping bit of the images, has any one got any usefull info regarding the proccesing as I might give it another go when I have a bit more time to see what I can acheive.

Without the originals to compare i would not have guessed they had had any HDR work, they look fine as images to me.

I always think of HDR as a 'technique' rather than a 'style'. A technique to be used when the dynamic range in the scene in front of you is too broad to capture with a single exposure. Hard to say whether or not these could have been done without multiple exposures ?
With that in mind they work for me as the end results just appear to be nicely exposed shots without blown highlights or lost shadow detail.

Wouldn't have known they were HDR without you saying. I like them all, paticlarly the first and the last.

Thanks for the replies, I did a edit of one of the images and pushed the sliders a bit more, which has made it a bit more bright and colourful, I was pleased to see so much detail in the groyne as I was shooting directly into the sun on this one, so the groyne facing the camera was in the shadow and very dark.
