Day out at Ickworth House Suffolk

The Rotunda at Ickworth House, built purely as an entertainment centre for shooting parties. Sorry if the set is a little long, but we saw a lot.

Leucojum aestivum

Muntjac

The Pompei Room

Table composed of different types of Marbles

Looking across the hallway from a 'porthole' on the stairs.

Spring lamb

Swan

Church, summer house and Rotunda

Lovely series Richard and what a delightful place to visit. Just had a look on Google maps, they have some very large grounds.

Re: Day out at Ickworth House Suffolk

Thank you for the kind comments. Ken the estate runs to some 1800acres with lots of nice walks and some old trees. A photographers wonderland. Architecture, landscapes, woods and wildlife abound. The Fallow deer were too far away to get a shot. Saw another Treecreeper, this is about 7 or 8 in the last 2-3 weeks, but YET again it avoided my lens, as have all the others. It was quite dull and at times we had the odd spots of rain. The marble table was difficult due to direct low sunlight shining onto the table. My only option was to stand between the sun and the table.

The house used to belong to the Hervey family, who had a colourful history to say the least. We spent about six very enjoyable hours at Ickworth. Having joined the National trust we look forward to several nice days out.
