I like the original, my opinion with cropping areas like the top of the head, is that if you are going to do it. You need to make it look deliberate rather than just taking the tip off. i.e Crop it heavy.

I also like the original, as Jonni has said eyes stand out and a winning smile makes a great portrait.

If I was going to be ultra critical the background make her appear as though she is racing down a corridor on a bike. Great focus on the face but I do wonder if a greater DOF to bring the clothing into focus as well would make the photo better. To me the head looks a little detached from the body.
But as I said in another photo I am no expert so more than likely got it completely wrong
Maybe investing in a prime lens like a 50mm would make a load of difference. If you lived nearer you could have borrowed mine to try out.
