Focus point?

I'm having a lot of problem getting my focus point to be, where I want it.

So I was given some advice. To set the ISO to 500, use Shutter Priority, and double-ish the shutter speed to the focal length. So it was 1/250 and 95 mm.

I tried to put the focus point on the hole in the red ball. What do you think, did I suceed?

Luna wasn't very cooperative today, so I got this one from an odd angle:

I used Manual settings for this one And aimed for the eye

Re: Focus point?

The general rule is to set the shutter to a minimum speed equal to the reciprocal of the lens length mm.

Therefore a 100mm lens should need a shutter speed of at least 1/100 sec. This is for static objects and some people can use a much slower shutter speed.

Stanokella: jeanette used shutter priority so the camera would have set the aperture automatically. In the first picture the aperture was f4.5

Yes, this was a test to see if it was my camera/lens that was causing me problems or if it were movement from either object or me.. That's why the speed were doubled and ISO as high as it was

So I think, I've learned that my problem is holding the camera steady while shooting.

Re: Focus point?

Have you tried the different focus modes Jeanette?

There should be one that will lock the focus, where you half depress the shutter button with the central point on what you want in focus - then keeping the finger half depressed move the camera to frame the photo as you want, and then fully depress the button. It should keep the original item in focus

Mmm I will have a look in the manual and see, if there's one that locks the focus
