Pheasant "male"
This guy has just started coming into my garden, it's the first time i have seen one this colour, the photo is not brilliant as i only got the photo, as he was leaving across the field, but hopefully he will return soon and i will get a better picture of him next time.
Has anyone seen one this colour, he is Dark Blue & dark green, with black ???

Its a mutation of the common Pheasant, the variation is known as Tenebrosus. Although this colored Pheasant might also be classed as a melanistic Pheasant but this is not technically correct, the plumage can not really be described as a melanism. They are very popular in Norfolk and are said to outnumber the normal pheasants. Not surprising they have headed a little south and ended up in Essex.
