Re: Man, dog and the Ness beach

Not knowing what software you have access to makes it a bit of a guessing game but it would not be the easiest job.

What I would do is, in Lightroom, process one copy of the raw file and adjust the exposure to try and maintain or increase any colour or detail in the sky. I would pass this to PS CS5 as an edit.

Step 2 would be to process another copy of the raw maintaining detail in the rest of the image. Once again I would pass this to PS CS5 as another edit.

In PS I would paste the second copy, via a layer, on top of the of the first copy (the copy with sky detail. The top layer would be the image an overexposed sky and the layer below would be the image with the better sky.

I would now take the eraser tool and erase the sky from the the top layer. This will let the sky from the lower layer became visible.

Like I say not the easiest of jobs and no doubt there are some auto ways of doing similar but I do like to be in control.

Or maybe I'm just a Luddite

Steve

I would pass both PSP files

Re: Man, dog and the Ness beach

Difficult conditions to cope with there Jols but some good advice from Steve.

Another option (psst don't tell anybody) is bring in another sky from another shot as it's not a particularly complicated edge.
