Feeding station

A nature reserve i visit, set up a new feeding station after the old one was burned down by vandals. Its kept well stocked by the warden and the birds that visit are in good condition for The breeding season, heres a few pics of some of the birds that visit.

The site is used by the BTO for a constant effort site, to ring birds to help gather information on their movements etc.

Long-tailed tit being ringed.

The site has an extensive lake and reedbed surrounded by woodland, its good for mammals funghi and orchids as well as birds.

Re: Feeding station

Fab! What a shame the old one was burned down though. I hate people sometimes

Looks a great spot to visit for photos wish we had anything like that over here. We have some fab spots for birding, and we have some of the best estuaries in Europe for winter birds... but nothing like this - we don't have any feeding stations, or proper 'RSPB' type reserves... they tend not to be very man made, just areas sectioned off and proclaimed reserves - which is lovely for a very natural 'as it should be' feeling, but no feeding stations!

Re: Feeding station

Some people are a waste of space. Burning it down. Morons.

Lovely set Brian. One of those (second one down) has visited my garden 3 times now. Today it got chased off by a blue tit (I think it was a blue tit).

Re: Feeding station

I was going to post a photo of a Treecreeper I saw today whilst out primarily on a walk, I just happened to see it. I'll not bother after seeing yours above, absolutely superb.

Re: Feeding station

Thanks for all your comments guys, as many have said its a sad world, also a long established badger set has been prone to disturbance. Still its a great place surrounded by urban development and not far from a major city center. I was there today watching Bittern and Roe Deer.

regards mossy.
