Re: Moon nearly full eclipse

I was under the impression there were just the two lunar eclipses in 2012.

June 4th 2012

Partial - Will be visible in Europe, East Africa, Asia, Australia, Pacific and the Americas with a duration of 2h 7m.

and

November 28th 2012

Penumbral - Will be visible in Europe, East Africa, Asia, Australia and the Pacific.

Totally unaware of one occurring last night and find no mention of it.

Re: Moon nearly full eclipse

Steve if you check the exif files for that picture you will see it was taken last night and I didn't say full eclipse only partial which is why you can't find any reference to it.

I have been told its just the moon in sunlight and shadow, but that doesn't explain to me the difference in alignment between the circular "shadow" and where the lighter part is

Re: Moon nearly full eclipse

Not an eclipse Barry just a Waxing Crescent. Don`t forget your camera is more sensitive than the eye, if you try different shutter speeds from 1/100 to maybe 2 seconds it will start to show more of the moon than we can see through our eye. Also very doubtful you would see a full or near to full eclipse from the UK.

That is what I was going to suggest

Bazza, your exif data states that the image was taken at 21:50 on the 24/2/2012 but some how you managed to post in on here at 08:01pm (20:01) 24/02/2012.

Somehow you managed to post it nearly 2 hours before you took it

Methinks it is time to check the time on your camera.

Cheers
