The Corvid family

Im partial to Corvids the crow family, these intelligent birds have interesting habits, and despite being described as black are often anything but and i hope these photos will display some of what i enjoy about them.

Magpie, mascot of my local football team (Newcastle United).

Jackdaw, just love the blue eye and silvery head.

Rook.

Partially leucistic Crow, once passed this off as a rare Northumbrian Magpie Crow on a bird forum as an April fools joke, loads of people bit.

Hooded Crow, rare in Northumberland, this was on Mull Scotland.

Im missing a Raven image to complete the set.

Think you definitely needed your lucky mascot on Sat night Brian

Only a Raven, Chough and Jay missing Brian, nice set though, like the Leucistic Crow. Always see mentioned Leucistic birds but never come across any.

Re: The Corvid family

Cheers guys, your right i forgot about Jay and Chough, i might get the former but no chance of a Chough in my area, re Saturday im still in mourning, and i cant use the words i want too on a polite forum like this.

As long as we beat the Macams in March, i will b happy with the season.

Re: The Corvid family

Yes sadly most of the UK they are not seen, just parts of Wales and Ireland. Not sure why Choughs do not come further inland.

Regarding footie it happens to the best of teams

Re: The Corvid family

I thought leucism was a term for loss of pigment of which Carrion Crows do suffer as do other birds even Rooks sometimes?

Re: The Corvid family

We have seen Choughs in Pembrokeshire at quite close quarters, lovely looking birds.

Re: The Corvid family

I'm not birder so have no idea what you are all on about

I like the magpie best. When I have tried to get a shot of one they always fly away.
