Editing suites...Picnik closes.

I don't know if anyone here will be interested as most of you use Photoshop or Lightroom but Picnik is to close on April 19th. They have sold out to Google+ who are offering a tiny proportion of their editing output and none of their functionality.

Picnik was the creative sibling of picassa that paired up with flickr and really took off a few years ago. It offered real ease of use and lots of effects and edits. The Picnik on Flckr group has been full of people registering real distress in the last few days as we search for alternatives.

They are returning our annual subscription in full but most of us would have happily payed triple for this smart wee suite.

Sad day.

Google free online photo editors. Lots of them.

I know mate and god knows I have looked at most of them in the last 2 days but nothing comes close to measuring up.

I guess am gonna have to cherry pick from a few for a while.

One thing though..flicker are bringing out their own suite so fingers crossed they come up with the goods.

So far pixlr seems to offer the best deal but still falls far short.

Here's an idea of how sorely Picnik will be missed...and there's a huge gap in the market for someone to profit from...with the right package.
