I know this image is not particularly good, it was still fairly dark when this was taken so i had to lighten it up in PS so excuse the noise. The original is silhouetted so could not make out any detail on the bird.
Not 100% sure but it does look like a Jackdaw to me, the image upload is more for confirming an ID than anything.

Must be up and about pretty early mate I can't help with ID as I'm hopeless with birds and flowers pretty much everything really...

Up early Owen yes, out and about, well this is taken from home. 
I am just trying to get used to what can be seen from the back of the house early on in the morning. Photographing them well is another matter though, majority of birds land in trees a couple of doors down and they are approx 150feet away. They would of been in a perfect position to photograph them if trees were closer. There are closer trees, a fir which of course stays green all year round, difficult to see birds in that tree. Then a couple of others which would of been in a perfect position if it was not for the sun.

Maybe upping the exposure a few times would help? I done it on a bird the other day and was surprised how well it works.
