Lonesome path

This is another shot from a couple of weeks ago (lunchtime walk) that I didn't particularly like but after doing a bit of PP and a crop, it's growing on me.

Some honest CC please (I can take it).

Re: Lonesome path

Its not too bad Ken, nice variety of different species of trees and nice variety of colors too. Looks better as the bigger image. It might of been worth taking a few photos of this area from different angles. Just to give you a selection of images to choose from, hopefully there would be at least one great image taken

Re: Lonesome path

Technically spot on ken, think it just needs a focal point towards the end of the path. The path is a great lead in, just think it needs to take you to something for example a figure. Might be tempted to crop some off the left to the darker tree still keepin the path coming from the corner.

But what do I know!

Thanks Mark, as a big picture (full res) the detail is mind boggling you can look at it for ages, but I think this is half the problem for me when I'm trying to decide where to frame (crop).

Quite a bit actually Steve

I thought the small monument was the paths target, but I think you could be right, maybe it's a bit to distant or small. I just wish the sun would have come out from behind the clouds a bit more too because the day before the light was spectacular.

I get so frustrated sometimes because I know there is a good picture in a certain location when I'm stood there, but I can't alway extract or capture it

If we get a nice frost or some snow I might try this location again, but try what you suggested and give the path a point of interest.

Thanks for all comments so far

Re: Lonesome path

I like it how it is and the lighter tree on the left is amazing at full res

This is one reason i mentioned taking a few photos from different angles Ken, not great changes in angles, maybe a foot either side of your original position....When on location, we do not always see what the camera sees and captures and you cannot always make out on the screen on the camera what your image looks like until you get home and upload it, at least shooting a few images gives you more room to pull out that great image

Re: Lonesome path

I don't think the monument is *quite* noticeable enough to be a focus point if you get me - I agree with Ste, it's a cracking image, but something more at the end of the path may have helped. Having said that, it's still very appealing

Re: Lonesome path

I truly like it. Opened large it's ace. If it was mine I would have cloned the small monument out.......... But then again, I really don't know anything

Thanks Cakey, the colours are half the reason I went for the walk

Yes precisely Laura, this was what Steve was saying too, I'll watch out for that next time I walk down there and try the shot further along the path.

Thanks for the detailed CC Laura

Re: Lonesome path

Hard to know what to suggest regarding composition and crop Ken although as it stands the path works well and the different colours are really nice.

As for getting excited LOL - I can relate to that.
