A few random images from today

Just a few shots from around Rickmansworth Aquadrome, The River Colne and the Grand union Canal.

(1) A couple of barges on the Grand Union Canal, shows you how observant i was when taking this image, i failed to see the Grey Heron in the background.

(2) Stockers Lock Bridge and Stockers Lock

(3) The Spirit of Youth

(4) Branching out

(5) The Bridge over the River Colne

(6) A couple of my favorites for the day. A 13 Second and a 15 Second exposure of the River Colne. Taken from two different angles, not sure which one i prefer really. I had planned on taking longer exposures than the 15 seconds, but rain then started, Hurriedly packed my stuff up only for it to stop as soon as i did.....

Re: A few random images from today

Thanks Laura.

Great place for a walk Laura, i have only done part of the walk, around 2 1/2 of the lakes in this area. The lakes stretch from Rickmansworth to Uxbridge which are 11 miles apart, i think about 10 miles coverage of lakes and maybe 15 different lakes all but a few split up by small islands. I would hate to think how long it would take to do the full circuit, took me 2 hours there and back from Springwell lake which is next to Stockers Lake to Stockers Lock on the Grand Union. And i did not stop off too long to take photos each time

Re: A few random images from today

Thanks Ken A better shot could of been had from the other side of the canal though but no pathway and a farm was in the way
I have never really took much notice before but most of the bridges on the GUC that i have come across have a bridge next to them, wonder if there is any reason for this.

Re: A few random images from today

Thanks Brian and Owen......

Yes Brian a Kingfisher would of been a lovely sight, but sadly i have not seen any in this area yet. When i 1st walked over the bridge here yesterday, the place the last 2 images were taken, there were a few bird watchers set up there, maybe looking out for the Kingfishers, how they expected to see anything, they were bit of a noisy bunch, lol

Note to self Owen - I must be more observant when out and about
