This used to be my playground.

My old primary school has be closed since last September due to a new super school being built nearby.

I found out last week it is to be demolished this September so I made a journey back in time.

This is the gate I walked through every day for 6 years as a child.

And this was the small playground that used to have a sand pit up the top used for sports days long jump.

This was the larger playground, all overgrown now.

Odd, isn't it Jols..

Did you find yourself wanting to touch the posts for old times sake?

Recently my old High School was demolished ( where I met my husband long time since) and the Hospital wing where my mother died 2 years ago.

Mixed emotions.

Nice pics .

I would love to get inside..........we peeped through the windows and all the books are still there and pictures that children have drawn still on the walls...........

ASK!!!!

Would be a shame to miss it for all time and they may let you in to take a few shots..can you contact the local press?

Am sure they would be interested in a feature article.

Go on Jols, you can do it.

Re: This used to be my playground.

It's always spooky going back to places isn't it.

My sister's kids all attended the big old primary school that I attended as a child and over the years I've been back quite a few times to pick them up at the end of the day etc.

Eventually, after years of pondering - they brought the whole shooting match to the ground and built a nice new building on the same site.

When I go back now - (possibly because I live 4 hours away and don't see the new building every day) I walk through the same old gates and still 'see' the old school building in my mind - and in incredible detail too.
