The Flower and the Frog

These were from a day out recently. I don't know if they work, but I do kind of like them. I'm trying to stretch the limits of what I can get from my compact, I know they won't be slr quality, but I think they do the job

Kit 1
Nikon D5100
Nikon VR 18-55 AF
Nikon VR 55-200 AF
My Compact/P&S: Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ8

Re: The Flower and the Frog

I think they came out very well too.

The Panasonic Lumix cameras get some good reports. I must look at getting a compact camera at some stage.

Re: The Flower and the Frog

Did you know that in the same Panasonic factory that makes the Panasonic Lumix make the Leica V-LUX 20? http://www.cameralabs.com/reviews/Panasonic_Lumix_DMC_TZ10_ZS7/

There are only small differences between the two. Never underestimate a pocket digital camera. My V-LUX 20 is a 12.1 megapixel camera vith vibration reduction and a 25-300mm lens. http://www.dpreview.com/news/1004/10...eicavlux20.asp

My suggestions on the use of your pocket camera include nearly full framing the subject. Get close, and by that I mean use your zoom to fill the frame. A well exposed, sharp photo makes up a lot for a smaller sensor. Shoot available light. Turn that flash off on your camera. Flash, especially on a small camera, washes out color saturation & detail. Detail adds to the sharpness of a photograph.

Here are a few examples of what I mentioned above on two of my Leica shots.
