Backyard Flower

I'm sorry I don't know the variety of this flower but it certainly was pretty so I photographed it.

Thanks Suz, there are a lot more knowledgeable flower lovers than me out there. I've gotten a fair number of folks who know their flowers.

Re: Backyard Flower

Lovely DOF Bob, like the isolation. Those flowers are very common around here at the moment, I even have a few pop out of the lawn at the moment.

The staff working in my apartment complex are always busy trying to make our home beautiful. They'll change shrubs & flowers a dozen times a year as plants go in and out of season.

These little Daffodils were planted along the backyard sidewalk leading to the building's mailboxes. Never one to miss an opportunity, I captured this one by lying on the sidewalk so I could shoot upward into the much darker hedges behind them. It gives it a unique perspective as well. You have no idea the effort it took for me to get back to my feet from lying down. I'm too old and fat to be doing this too often. You'd need a crane to get me up if I couldn't manage it myself. It was worth it though to get this shot in this way.

Re: Backyard Flower

Hi Bob

As Ken said these flowers are prolific in Britain's gardens, highways and byways this time of year and are usually thought of as the first signs of spring. The Daffodil is part of the Narcissus family and is the national flower of Wales. You captured a good shot with good Dof and true colour.

Re: Backyard Flower

The kids were cutting the daffs from the wooded bit at the end of our garden yesterday.

As mentioned already it's a sign of Spring and it's always nice to have a vase or two on the kitchen window sill.
