Paddy and Casper

Just thought I'd share these.

Casper is Hannah's kitten and is now out and about enjoying his new found freedom with our other cats.

It was Paddy out with Casper today - Murphy spent the day sleeping upstairs on my bed They're not much help when trying to photograph the birds

Anyway - hope you don't mide as there's a few

Re: Paddy and Casper

He is a cracker! great pics.

He's the same as Li,l kitten head and body growing quicker, that wasn't meant rude either, but I've noticed Lily is the same at the moment.

I love Paddy's markings, especially his nose

So jealous, of the snow, does he like it?

Re: Paddy and Casper

Hannah used to call Paddy 'Pansy Face'

I guess Casper just thinks that outside is Snowy all the time Moonie.

It snowed in late November which was his first trip out and then we kept him in during the 3 foot deep stuff till we got him snipped. Apart from two weeks (which coincided with him not going out) he's known no different as the snow hasn't gone away.

You're right though in that he has that little head thing going on. He's still at that stupid age that when he runs he's not in full control of his body. That said he's showing signs of being a right little hunter. I'm a bit hacked off at that if I'm honest because I've enjoyed encouraging the birds after Chippy and Bramble died. Paddy and murphy are 15 now so really can't be bothered but Casper and his tree climbing may require a re-think.

Re: Paddy and Casper

he's going to have a shock, when the snow melts

I think Lil's head is slowly catching up with her body, but noticed it a while ago.

Can you maybe attached a collar and bell, when he goes out, Daisy can't be bothered anymore, but we used to pop one on her before she went out.

Lily is a whole different ball game, you are going to think I'm nuts, but she only goes out supervised, because of the big birds of prey, that we get all the time, I haven't seen them yet, but I know there are coyotes in the area, snakes etc. Plus, it was part of her adoption agreement, and after Snowy disappeared, I never want a cat to just vanish, and never know what happened to them again.
I think she would be lethal given the chance, I've seen what she does with her toys

Re: Paddy and Casper

I've never had much luck using collars with my cats but I appreciate the bell can help.

One cat we had wore a collar and bell and whilst she could sneak about without it 'jingling' it made a racket when she ran and pounced which gave the birds half a chance. The problem was though that she kept getting snagged as it was old buckle collar. I've seen cat's hanging dead in trees and after releasing mine screaming and spitting a few times we switched to one with a snap release but found she was forever coming home without it.

After a while we just decided they were more hassle than they were worth and ever since none of our cats have worn collars.

As for the locals - we're lucky (as you know) not to have much in the way of prey to bother the cats. Foxes, Golden Eagles, White Tailed Sea Eagles are about all that might bother a cat around here so my lot all have a door key lol

Joking aside I would say the cats (Murphy esp) are probably the number one predator where we live.

Re: Paddy and Casper

Yeah the old type of collars can be lethal if snagged, and the quick release ones, do get lost easily

Well, Daisy potters about, but never leaves the garden, and just loves to sunbathe, but Lily loose and alone would be a worry Am still thinking of building a large cat run, so they can come and go as they please in safety. Neighbours have told me that several small dogs and cats have gone missing from the gardens, and coyotes have been seen at the time. The only thing I had to worry about in the UK, was the dog next door getting the cats
