Am off ma heed this Tiger is huge

This is a photo that my wife Liz took in Thailand I got the chance to go in the cage with this lovely animal. Me and Liz were in the cage and the keeper
stood on the outside with the gate closed looking in through the bars.
We were told not to do this as these animals are Unpredictable but what a chance of a life time

Re: Am off ma heed this Tiger is huge

Going to sound like a real killjoy, but sadly most of these Tigers are not treated nicely, have less than ideal enclosures and conditions, and ones that tourists pose with tend to be drugged

Many have their claws and teeth removed, breed them for trade in China, and beaten. Did you not think it was odd, that an adult Tiger let you into it's enclosure, a total stranger?

Truly a beautiful, magnificent creature though.

In my last employment I seen a few drugged animals, and one can assure you
that this young lady was very alert and curious.

She also had her teeth and claws. And was tolerant of us as these animals are hand reared from cubs. There was no sign of abuse to this animal.
She was a good looking healthy weight

I also have photos of Tigers from Bali last year that have been drugged, they do not lift there heads and pay no attention to what happens around them, I did not post these photos last year as they are quite disturbing. As you may see from the photo this young lady is looking at what was going on outside, eyes are wide and bright and very swithched on.

And yes a magnificent big cat.

Cheers Goggs....

Oh yeah, they are hand reared alright.... for tourists to feed by paying for the bottle.

This particular zoo has a bad reputation,as many do over there for being suspected of supplying the Chinese medicine market, not even going to go into the Circus like side of it, and if you google you will find many tourists have seen the tigers, elephants and crocodiles beaten with metal poles.
The Born Free Foundation, is trying to bring this Zoo and others more into the public eye to stop tourists feeding this trade.

Many UK tour operators are advising against visiting there and the many others in the East,as they will continue to keep overbreeding these poor Tigers, and crocodiles and elephants and getting them to jump through fire, and walk tightropes, bicycles. How can it be right to keep baby cubs in boxes like that all day, for tourists to gawp at? Dressing up Orangutans like kids etc.

I have seen it with my own eyes, so I am not just gobbing off for the sake of it either.

Think it's all sad, I am glad to hear she has her claws and teeth, but if tourists stopped going to these places, animals would not be forced to live like this, it's that simple.

Re: Am off ma heed this Tiger is huge

Id question the claws on that photo alone. Looks like her "toes" are flattened because of claw removal. You can see them, you should never see a Cats toes, except when tendons and nerves are severed, for example in de-clawing.

Re: Am off ma heed this Tiger is huge

Blimey this is a photo forum not the rspca lol.....

The pic is great and the experience must of been wonderful.

Moonie you go into lots of zoo's to take photos what is the difference ? You do not really know how they are treated and even if treated well they are still NOT in the wild so it is unnatural

If nobody ever went to a zoo all these animals would stay in the wild where they should be, and would be cared for in the wild by there own.

If an animal was to become extinct then that is the world evolving, unless they can be helped in the wild.

At the end of the day cracking pic

The difference? They are not "petted" declawed and made to pose for pictures with visitors for a start.

What do you think a Zoo's purpose and function is?

. Precisely, so please tell me what this Tiger can contribute? Or this Zoo for that matter.
