Fieldfare

It's a fairly savage crop unfortunately because they were a fair way off over the wall amongst the apple trees. Quite happy though given the circumstances.

Re: Fieldfare

Nice capture Phil, how do you get them to pose to order like that?

Also you done me a service, we had a flock of these birds visit our trees last winter, but they were all puffed up and round looking and so I had no idea what birds they were until now.

This was one of the trees:

That's my typical view of Fieldfares - often in a group and in amongst the branches. Take a step towards them and they just fly off - very frustrating. You may find from an ID point of view they are mixed with a similar bird called Redwings.

Not reading the exif (without digging back the way) it will be a crop of a 400mm shot at 5.6 (my max aperture at that length) using a Canon 100-400 on a 1D Mark 2 which is a 1.3 crop camera.
