Seasonal Slowdown

It appears we've entered that quiet time for people posting their photos. I use the poor weather conditions to take my photography indoors, especially during the holidays. There are lots of cute people pictures out there with folks dressed in furry, cudly coats & scarfs. I've seen adoreable hats being worn that cause quite a laugh at first sight. THere are Christmas lights and decorated trees and store displays that beg to be photographed. Put some lights on your doggie and make your own Christmas card photos. Get out there & shoot.

All my relatives have agreed to stop buying Christmas gifts as there are so many family members that the cost of getting everyone something has gotten out of hand. That allows me to concentrate on friends. I have 4 or 5 that I buy for and because I know them so well I can personalise the gift. Here are the folks on my list.

My best friend, Warren, and his parents, Micheline & Richard

My friend, Pat, from the McDonald's senior group

My friends, Donna & Wilbur from the McDonald's senior group

Re: Seasonal Slowdown

That's a good idea Bob - only recently I stopped buying for nieces and nephews over the age of 18. Well they never seem to buy any of us presents and we started buying them for others when we were 12, from our pocket money! I will however continue to buy for my sisters kids as I'm much closer to her and her family than my other siblings and their family (in fact some of them are damn right repugnant!).

Re: Seasonal Slowdown

I ask my kids (all grown up now and have their own families), not to spend their hard earned money buying me something I probably don't want/wont use. Anything I want or need I have probably already bought it or it's too expensive.

Re: Seasonal Slowdown

This isn't my slow time of year... quite the opposite in fact winter is my busy time with the sled dog racing season

Haven't started my xmas shopping either, don't even know what to get for people this year

Re: Seasonal Slowdown

Lovely shots Bob. Never really thought about it before but I've not got any photographs of my friends.

As for the time of year - I can't get out and about much just now but this is when I take the most photographs whether it be birds in the garden or landscapes.

Re: Seasonal Slowdown

Since it rains or snows here all winter it can get depressing sitting about the house for 7 months. There are still plenty of places to go and lots to do in my area despite the weather. You just can't get in a rut and hibernate. I am grateful for my nifty Smart car and its great gas mileage to get me out of the area should I feel the need to escape. After my learning experience with mass transit yesterday I have no reason to let the gloomy weather hold me down. I traveled all day on busses and trains, avoiding the weather and traffic, for less than $5. What a bargain!

Re: Seasonal Slowdown

I'm super busy at the moment, and have house guests that keep coming and going, so no time to sort out all the pics I am taking, including beach shots, a battleship, desert, close encounters with wild alligators, Louisiana swamps, a stupidly high monument that made me feel ill when I got up there, lots of portraits, and lots of thanksgiving/holiday stuff.
Plus, we've had our first foster dog stay, which was fab. Still got loads of Christmas shopping to buy, and guests to entertain, and work. So, won't be posting much between now and Christmas.
