Scotland

Which of these compositions is better? I'm really not experienced with landscape photography, but would love to learn. These were taken on my old Fujifilm s5700. I don't mind hearing that they're both poor, just want to learn.
Also, is it always worth using a longer exposure to get better colours?

Re: Scotland

You do yourself an injustice - they are both very good. However, while the composition in both photographs is good IMO, they could be made to look so much better with some post processing.

As an example, in #1 the post and road sign could do with cloning out allowing the road to lead the eye into the picture.

Both images would benefit being tweaked in 'Levels' in a photo processing package - that would enhance the colours no end and the sky could do with darkening a tad to make them look more menacing. That done you will have two stunning photos that would grace any wall.

Re: Scotland

Thank you very much, I will have a go at the processing you mention, it all made perfect sense. I'm glad you like the composition as well
