Re: Bassett Boy

He's gorgeous! I think perhaps a slightly tighter crop to balance it out a bit, or more space below the ears if that's possible. With the ear tips being dark they need that bit extra space as they seem to blend a little with the background otherwise. Perhaps cloning out the harness could help too with this shot Not bad at all though, and he's lovely!

Re: Bassett Boy

He is a gorgeous dog, lovely breed. I agree he could of done with maybe a bit more space below his ears, and I prefer compositions when the head isn't so much in the middle, but the exposure is good, as you can see you are in mixed light, great colours, maybe try and get him more face on and bring his eyes as the main focus. When you think Bassett's you always think of droopy ears, and big, sad, hound dog eyes, and you've captured both xx

Thanks I do agree with you, I didn't crop the picture like this, it's SOOC other than cloning out the lead. I don't think I'm skilled enough to clone out the harness yet, it would look awful!

Ha ha, yes, it would help, maybe I can give that a go, but my cloning skills only really extends to leads at the moment

I'll bare that in mind next time I get the chance to shoot him (end of this month hopefully). Thanks, I tend to under or over expose, so glad you think this one is right. It's all part of getting used to the camera. He was lovely to shoot as with black dogs like Axel you have to be careful about background and such, with a colourful dog like this it was certainly easier!
