FAO Moonstone.

I didn't want to hijack your thread so I thought I would post my experiences with the Sigma 400mm.

You said in your thread about the Sigma being hit and miss with some lenses being sharp and some being soft.

When I first got my 400 I did indeed produce 'soft' images, but being the cussed individual I am I persevered and found that the results were all down to technique.

I agree totally that the Sigma 400 needs good light to get the best results, however, my advice (for what it is worth), to anybody moving to 400/500mm is to practice, practice, practice.

This shot was taken at about 70 metres distance and 300 feet high.

This image taken at about 50/60 metres.

Again taken at about 50/60 metres

These Red Arrows were taken at about 150 metres.

And of course you can always go for the close up. Taken at some 15 metres.

Re: FAO Moonstone.

I will give it some consideration,TBH I am happy with my 200mm but sometimes I want a little bit more, I will only be using it really in the garden, as I don't tend to carry zooms or telephotos around with me, usually a prime and use my feet to get closer, or further away, or my 24-70. So, I really not sure I can justify spending a lot on one, as I'd use it very little

I loved my Sigma 10 -20 , sold it as I didn't use it enough, but that was a fab lens. I think the Bigma is the one that is a bit hit and miss, Nicola B has a good one, and Laura's isn't so good.

I really appreciate you taking the time to show me what it can do, thank you xxxx
