Playing around with aperture and shutter ,etc

Well, I think I'm getting to grips a little bit more.

This is my darling hubbie, being very obliging.

With flash at night time inside, handheld

Without flash, same as above, handheld

With tripod and arpeture set to 3.3

Then Axel, thankfully a dog who sleeps very still! I tried a medium shutter speed (can't remember the exact number)

Then 8 seconds, both with tripod

Hope you can see what I'm learning and hopefully improving!

I can see what you're learning alright! It looks like it's a great little camera for your needs, and really helping you get to grips with some of the stuff! Love the last shot <3

Re: Playing around with aperture and shutter ,etc

One thing you should take note of is how your exposure sensor looks at a scene and sets the shutter speed according to the average brilliance it sees. In the shots with the black dog the sensor sets the shutter speed on the overpowering bright walls underexposing the black dog. I'm sure your camera has exposure compensation so try adjusting it causing the sensor to keep the shutter open longer and properly exposing the dog.

Re: Playing around with aperture and shutter ,etc

Thanks guys
Yes it does allow white balance changes and exposure compensation...

I'm not sure what I should change the settings to to correct this, I can see what you mean about him being underexposed..should I do a + compensation? What should I set the white balance too?
