Anyone got a Gorrilapod?

Hi guys,

I bought a gorillapod yesterday along with my camera to help aid better shots. I got this one because it promises to be really bendy and be able to grip as well as using it as a tripod without wrapping around things.

I got the compact size one as below:

So far so good! I've already used it quite a bit yesterday and got the quick release platform sorted so now it clips on in less than a second and we're ready to go! It also fits in a pocket or even thread a leg through the back of the camera case.

Really happy with it so far, I know it's not going to replace a full size tripod, but we have one of those at home for the rare occasion we'd need it, but I really like it's versatility and stability so far...anyone else got one and any thoughts on it?

Re: Anyone got a Gorrilapod?

I haven't owned one but it's a temptation. I've visited their site and read Google reviews but just can't risk putting a heavy camera with a heavy lens on something designed to wrap around a fence post. I have a great Manfrotto Tripod and Monopod so I feel the Gorillapod would just be another gadget I never use.

Re: Anyone got a Gorrilapod?

I'd be a bit scared with the weight of some of the kit I use - having said that they do look great, and if you've a smaller/lighter set of kit, then it's a good idea I think!

Re: Anyone got a Gorrilapod?

I've been regularly bidding on them on E Bay but always get outbid as I'm not prepared to pay very much for one!
I want one to put my speedlight on for Off Camera Flash experimenting. I thought it would be great for that as I could just attach the flash to anything available.
I have a hotshoe converter for the top, now I just need the gorillapod!
