I like them.
As for the title question - when you push things this far.....I think it's unashamedly acceptable to think of them as art as much as photography and personal taste plays more of a part.
For me personally - I have a lot of a lot of original artwork in the house some of which isn't a million miles away from this kind of style. Would I hang a photoshop image in 'pride of place' in the same way that I would a painting ? - almost certainly not - but as an image it still appeals.
That said from a photography point of view it's clear that the qualities we aim for - composition - light - colour - contrast are all still relevant and everything is good.

Did you use a filter Ste? How did you go about it?
Phil I agree - it becomes art. I love the first one if I had a big enough house I'd find a place to hang it up somewhere!

Sorry but its not to my taste. Maybe because I don't understand abstract or near abstract art. I think nature provides us with enough to go on with, without us messing about with it.
