Black Vultures (P&S)

Went to a nearby lake for a swim and BBQ,yesterday afternoon, and luckily had my P&S with me, as there's a large colony of Black Vultures. Really wish I'd got my Nikon with me, but I'll go back again. The wingspan is massive, seriously impressive birds, was trying to get the kids to play dead, but they wouldn't

Part of the colony

Taking off....

Circling above, it's both an amazing, and also creepy sight

Mmmm do nice and Vultures, go together?

They do scare me a little, it's like they are waiting and watching for you to choke on your food, and they'll be ready.

Re: Black Vultures (P&S)

I guess they live on dead fish, and people's rubbish, plus there are so many food places, marinas etc, all along the lake,it's about 20 miles long, and is very popular for water sports, picnics etc, plus if you are very flush, there are some seriously nice properties along the shoreline

It makes me laugh how locals are so blase about them, whereas me, brought up in Oxfordshire, gets all giddy with excitement when I see Vultures or EaglesI don't think I will ever get used to seeing them TBH.
